Gas suppression system for the packaging industryEvery day across the world billions of litres of water, milk, juice and other liquid foods are consumed.  Established in 1951, Tetra Pak develop packaging to protect both the nutritional value and the taste of the products inside.  Based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, Tetra Pak Global asked Ultra Surefire to design and install a gas suppression system for their newly designed IT computer room.

FM200 (Heptafluoropropane) was the chosen gas for this suppression system which was designed and installed to British Standards.   Consisting of one gas cylinder located outside of the protected area, the system is activated through detection within the computer room.   The gas suppression system was configured to link with the main building fire alarm for full cause and effect with BMS controls philosophy.   On activation, the fire alarm will receive a signal, air conditioning and plant associated within the protected area would be shut down, louvers are motorised closed and ducting has an electrically operated damper to stop the spread of any fire.
